THE OWNERS - Alister and Bridget Reid

Alister began fishing as a commercial rock lobster fisherman at Pahaoa on the South Wairarapa Coast in 1979 and continued for 23 consecutive seasons in the twin outboard powered vessel "Challenger". Gamefish have been actively pursued since 1990 in the vessel 'Puddy-Cat' with considerable success in fishing tournaments including 4 x winning skipper in the Sharkarama / Superfish tournament.

Seven Mako sharks in excess of 200kg have been landed in tournaments by the 'Puddy-Cat' team. In addition Alister was the gaff-man on the vessel 'Marcella' which took top honours at Gisborne in 2001 with a 'grander' Mako of 458.5kg and again at the 'Coruba' tournament in Napier with a 243kg fish in 2002.

In 1993 Alister was the delegate responsible for the inclusion of the Wairarapa Sports Fishing Club in the N.Z. Big Game Fishing Council and has remained as one of two delegates since then. For the last 15 years he has fished the 'Nationals' as a member of the "Wairarapa Pussies" team. Alister has a personal best 231kg Blue Marlin and 336kg Mako to his credit.
